Nourish October Update: Social Emotional Adventure Groups
Happy Fall!
As the days grow cooler and the leaves crunch beneath our feet, October has a way of keeping us busy. Between extracurriculars, playdates, and the lack of school routines, it feels like the month is flying by. For some families, it’s a time to savour the beauty of fall, and for others, it’s a whirlwind of keeping children engaged, entertained, and learning.
Day Camp Wrap-Up
Our day camps from October 12 to 17 were a wonderful success! Children explored nature, embraced the freedom of imaginative play, and made lasting connections. We are so grateful to everyone who joined us and made these weeks such a special experience.
Day Camps Oct 12–17 were completely full!
After the success of our October day camps, we have been reflecting on something that became beautifully clear: children thrive when they have space to connect, imagine, and play together. Parents often ask us how to support their child’s social skills, help them build friendships, and navigate the small but important moments of social interaction.
This fall, we are excited to launch Social Emotional Adventure Groups. These are small, screen-free, outdoor programs designed to help children practice key social and emotional skills through imaginative, engaging activities. Using elements of play therapy, early intervention techniques, and nature-based learning, these groups offer children the chance to:
Build confidence in making friends
Practice cooperation, emotional regulation, behavioural skill building, and problem-solving
Explore creativity and imagination
Connect with peers and animals in a safe, guided environment
Upcoming Group Themes
Survival Camp: Teamwork, shelter-building, and creative problem-solving in the outdoors
Ponies & Princesses: Imaginative play and equine connections
Pokémon Adventures: Friendship, collaboration, and strategy through interactive games
Secret Agents: Solving missions together to develop communication and teamwork
Superhero Adventures: Discover personal strengths, navigate challenges, and build connections through storytelling and play
These adventure experiences are designed for children who are learning functional social skills, exploring friendships, or just looking for meaningful, playful engagement outdoors. Whether your child is shy, highly imaginative, or somewhere in between, our groups provide safe, supportive, and fun spaces for growth.
We would love your feedback. What types of adventure groups would your child find exciting? What social skills are you hoping to nurture? Your input will help us shape experiences that are both enjoyable and impactful.
Stay connected with us through our website, blog posts, and social media for updates, registration, and more opportunities for your children to engage, learn, and flourish in nature-based, screen-free play.
With warmest wishes,
Lacy and the Nourish team
